ACCIDENT INJURY EVALUATION · SOMERVILLE, MA

Hurt in a taxi, bus or transit incident?

A collision is only one possibility. A sudden stop, a fall while boarding or an incident on a train can leave you unsure what to do next.

Describe the trip, not just the company name

Were you a taxi passenger, riding an MBTA bus, on the Green Line or commuter rail, or traveling on a coach or school bus? Tell us whether you were seated, standing, boarding or getting off. Describe a collision separately from a sudden stop or fall. The precise account helps the medical professional understand what to assess and helps the claim handler identify the right incident.

Taxi passengers and rideshare passengers have different records

For a taxi trip, keep a receipt, cab or vehicle number, operator information and any claim reference. For an Uber or Lyft trip, our rideshare resource explains the useful app and trip details. Do not assume a taxi and a transportation-network ride use identical insurance arrangements. We can ask for the information needed for billing without claiming to decide the carrier’s responsibilities.

Bus, trolley, light-rail and train incidents

Note the route or line, direction, station or stop, approximate time and whether an incident report was made. A vehicle number or report reference can be helpful when available. Give medical professionals the relevant physical details: you were holding a rail, fell into a seat, struck a surface or were already seated when the event occurred. An operator’s incident number is not proof of a particular injury.

Do not assume ordinary passenger-car PIP applies

Taxi, public-transit, school-bus and rail cases can involve different claim pathways. Ask the operator’s claim representative, your own insurer or your attorney who should handle medical bills and whether deadlines apply. This page does not establish eligibility, legal notice requirements or a promise that an operator will pay. Our team can explain our office’s billing requirements and costs before you decide about care.

Follow-up after the initial medical assessment

Bring discharge paperwork, imaging reports and instructions from clinicians who have already evaluated you. Tell Dr. Cordima what remains difficult: turning your head, sitting, reaching, walking or sleeping. The examination helps determine whether care for a musculoskeletal complaint here is appropriate or another evaluation is needed. Our office is independent of MBTA, taxi companies, school transportation providers and other operators.

Your questions, answered.

Can I ask about care after a sudden bus stop without a crash?

Yes. Describe the event and your symptoms when you call. Whether you need another medical assessment, whether care here is appropriate and whether a policy pays are separate questions.

Do you handle the legal claim against the transit operator?

No. We provide clinical evaluation and documentation within our role. Ask an attorney or the appropriate claim representative about legal procedures and deadlines.

YOUR SOMERVILLE OFFICE

Clear findings. A personal next step.

Dr. Christopher Cordima, DC, BCN, has been practicing since 1988 and is Board Certified in Chronic Intractable Pain & Neuropathy. Your visit begins with your history and an examination. Depending on your findings, that may include neurological testing and a review of whether imaging or another medical evaluation is needed.

If care here is appropriate, we explain the options and costs before you decide. We do not promise a particular result or recovery time. With your permission, our team can coordinate relevant records with your attorney.
