DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

When your knee changes how you live.

Patients often tell Dr. Cordima: “It hurts going down stairs.” “It clicks and feels unstable.”

  • Pain when walking, standing, or climbing stairs
  • Stiffness in the morning or after sitting
  • Swelling or tenderness around the knee
  • Difficulty bending, straightening, or squatting
  • Painful popping, clicking, or grinding
  • A knee that feels weak, catches, or gives way

You may already have an arthritis diagnosis, an old injury, or knee pain that keeps returning. Your examination helps us understand what is happening and which next steps fit your needs.

OUR APPROACH & YOUR FIRST VISIT

Care built around your knee—and your goals.

The goal is practical: less discomfort, better movement, and more confidence in everyday activities. Your first visit helps us understand your knee concerns and whether care here may be right for you.

01

Understand your knee concerns

Dr. Cordima checks swelling, range of motion, and the ligaments and meniscus with hands-on tests. He also examines your hip, foot, and pelvis to understand how movement and support above and below the knee may affect it. When indicated, digital X-rays help assess joint space and arthritic changes.

02

Review your findings and options

Dr. Cordima explains your findings, whether non-surgical care here may be appropriate, and the recommendations and costs before you decide. If another evaluation is needed, he’ll explain the next step.

03

Build around your goals

Walking farther, managing stairs, or getting up from a chair more comfortably are personal goals that help guide an appropriate care plan.

Bring any available imaging reports and a list of treatments you’ve already tried. Not every patient is a candidate, and results vary.

Can I come in if I’ve been told I have knee arthritis or bone-on-bone knees?

Yes. Bring any available imaging reports and information about previous care. Your diagnosis alone does not determine whether you are a candidate. Dr. Cordima will review your history and examination and discuss realistic options.

What if I’ve already tried injections, exercises, or other care?

Tell us what you have tried, what helped, and what did not. That history helps guide your evaluation. An evaluation does not commit you to a treatment program.

Will I need X-rays?

Dr. Cordima will decide whether X-rays are needed based on your history and examination. Bring existing imaging reports if you have them.

Will I feel better right away?

We cannot promise immediate relief or a specific recovery timeline. Your response depends on your condition and the care recommended after your examination.

How do I book my visit?

Use the Book a New Patient Visit button or call (617) 629-2600. Our office is at 707 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02144.

Can I discuss a meniscus tear, knee tendonitis, or knee bursitis at my evaluation?

Yes. Bring any available imaging reports and details of previous care. Dr. Cordima reviews the diagnosis, examines your knee, and discusses whether care here may be appropriate or another evaluation is needed. A named condition does not guarantee candidacy or a particular result.

Can I come in for knee pain when using stairs, walking, or getting out of a chair?

Yes. Tell Dr. Cordima which activities are difficult, when the pain began, and what you have already tried. Bring existing imaging reports if you have them. Your history and examination help determine whether care here may fit your needs or another evaluation is needed.

Why do you check my hip and foot when my knee hurts?

Your hip, pelvis, and foot affect how you move and place weight through your knee. Checking those areas helps Dr. Cordima consider whether weakness or restricted movement may be adding stress to the knee and which next steps may fit your findings.
